Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy (ENB) is a technique used to biopsy nodules deep in the lungs that previously would not have been accessible with a conventional bronchoscope. Without ENB, many of these lesions require surgery in order to obtain an accurate diagnosis.
ENB allows the use of GPS-like technology to direct steerable catheters into peripheral lung lesions. This technology can also be used to place small markers (known as fiducial markers) near tumors in the lung to guide radiation treatments.
The i-Logic SuperDimension ENB system is currently available at Seton Medical Center. More information is available at www.superdimension.com/index.cfm/go/Patients.FAQ.
